Lasagna in Delray Beach is a data problem, and I've run the numbers. Short rib ragù that clings like it means it, a proper vodka pasta that makes the namesake dish an afterthought, and a bakery selling pans that sell out before dinner.

The spread runs from a beachside spot where the lobster pasta deserves your attention to a Boynton-adjacent kitchen that tastes like a Roman grandmother's Sunday. I ate a lot of cheese.

The lasagna verdicts are in, ranked by what's actually worth your fork.

Shortrib lasagna is awesome
Family-style welcome guaranteed
Alfresco movie night vibe
Authentic sauces and pastas
Weekly go-to worthy

Mattieello's House of Lasagna is my kind of place. They don't mess around with the welcome; it's family-style the second you walk in, and that sets the tone. But the real story is that shortrib lasagna. It's a beautiful mess. The ragù clings to the pasta with serious intent. I've had a lot of lasagna that tries too hard. This one just works. It's the kind of plate you think about on a Tuesday. The alfresco movie night vibe is a bonus I didn't see coming. This is a weekly go-to, no question.

I rated the sauces and pastas as authentic because they are. You can taste the age on the dough and the simmer on the gravy. No shortcuts here. The shortrib is so tender it falls apart if you look at it wrong. A solid, honest meal. That's the whole pitch. And it lands.

Swift, warm Sunday seating
Chef Glenn’s standout eggplant
Lasagna plus ragú bolognese
Fresh, complimentary Italian bread
Reservations strongly recommended

Segreto Italia Delray. Here's a spot where they do the basics right. Sunday seating was swift, which in Delray means a lot. It helps that the bread is fresh and complimentary. Don't fill up on it though. You need room for the lasagna. It's a proper, old-school version. Then they toss in their ragù bolognese on top of that. Bold move. It works. Chef Glenn's eggplant is the sleeper hit, but don't skip it.

Reservations? Highly recommended. They aren't just saying that. The place fills up with people who know what's up. The service is warm, and they don't rush you. That's a rare combo. I'd go back for the red sauce alone. It's a solid, no-nonsense Italian dinner. Exactly what you want.

Brick oven pizza crunch
Garlic knots perfection
Top-notch chicken francese
Attentive, friendly service
Excellent veal parm sub

Avellino's Italian Restaurant. You aren't coming here for the lasagna. You're coming here because it's a safe bet. The lasagna is fine, but the brick oven pizza crunch is the real show. Get the garlic knots. They're perfect. The chicken francese is top-notch, too.

Service is attentive and friendly, even when the place is buzzing. I tried the veal parm sub. It's excellent. A serious sandwich. The lasagna sits on the menu as a classic, but it's the surrounding cast that steals the scene. If you want a no-drama Italian meal with solid execution, this is it. The lasagna is a bit standard. That's okay. You'll find a better version of the main dish elsewhere. But you won't find a better garlic knot.

Best meatball appetizer ever
Impeccable service from Roberto
Amazing red sauces, especially Diavlo

Tramonti Ristorante Delray Beach. Look, the lasagna is good. But the meatball appetizer is the best thing I put in my mouth all month. It's massive and seasoned with a confidence that borders on arrogance. It earns it. The Diavlo sauce is no joke. Tons of heat, tons of flavor. If you like red sauce, this is your jam.

Roberto, our server, was impeccable. Knew the menu backwards and forwards. That level of service is rare. This isn't a date night quiet spot. It's a lively, buzzing place. Go for the meatballs. Stay for the lasagna. The lasagna itself is a solid performer. But honestly? You could skip it and be happy. But you won't. It's right there on the menu. And you're in Delray. Do what you will.

Vegetarian options hit mark
Service and food impress

Casalina. This one surprised me. It flies under the radar a bit. The service is sharp, and the staff goes above and beyond. We had a group, and the patio fit us, the DJ, and a little dancing. The vegetarian options actually hit the mark. That's not a given.

The lasagna is solid. It's not revolutionary, but it's honestly built. The pasta is fresh, the ricotta is light, the sauce is bright. It's a proper plate. This is a place that gets the fundamentals right. The event staff is a big plus for parties. If you've got a group, this is a safe bet. The food impresses, and so does the vibe. I'd bring visitors here to show off Delray without the tourist circus.

Lobster vodka pasta standout
Ask for Nicole
Fresh crispy mahi-mahi
Fast service when busy
Smooth balanced old fashioned

Caffe Luna Rosa. The lobster vodka pasta is the move. It's the standout on the menu, and it's what you should order. Ask for Nicole. She's the one who runs the show efficiently. The mahi-mahi was fresh and crispy. Good crunch.

Service is fast, even when they're slammed. The old fashioned was smooth and balanced. No complaints there. The lasagna? It's okay. It's a bit of a letdown compared to that lobster pasta. Why would you order a standard lasagna when you can have a lobster vodka situation? Exactly. This is a casual spot to watch the people go by. It's got a beachside energy. You could easily do worse. But skip the lasagna. Get the lobster. You'll thank me later.

Worth the weekend wait
Friendly owners, great food
Best Caesar salad ever
Calamari fradiavolo standout
Two-day return worthy

Fratellis Italian Restaurant. Worth the weekend wait. I've said it before, I'll say it again. The line moves, but it's a wait. Get there early. The owners are friendly and genuinely invested in the food. The Caesar salad is the best I've had in years. It's that good.

The calamari fradiavolo is a standout. It's spicy, messy, and perfect. The lasagna? Classic. A big, cheesy, saucy square of comfort. It's not fancy, but it's right. I went back two days later. That's the data point. That's the review. This place earns its reputation. No need for frills. Just solid Italian cooking. It's a two-day return worthy joint. The lasagna is the anchor, but everything else supports it well.

CASA L'ACQUA Ristorante Italiano. Consistent. That's the word. Top-tier service every single time. Patio dining is worth requesting. The cocktails hit before dinner even starts. You know you're in for a good time. Portions are generous enough to share.

It's a quiet escape from the Atlantic Ave madness. That's a huge plus. The lasagna is a bit rich for me, but it's well-made. It hits the spot if you're craving a heavy, traditional version. This is a place for a slow dinner. A place to talk. The staff doesn't hover. The lasagna is solid, but the real win is the whole package. It's a reliable spot that doesn't let its standards slip. Come for the consistency. Leave full and relaxed.

Authentic Italian family recipes
Lasagna worth taking home
Soft dough from secret starter
Owner operates with integrity
Excellent coffee and tiramisu

Grelma Bakery Delray Beach. This is a take-home operation. And that's a good thing. The lasagna is worthy of taking home, which is high praise. They do it by the pan. The pasta is soft, and the dough comes from a secret starter. You can tell. The owner runs it with integrity. You can see it in how they cook.

The lasagna is a family recipe that's survived the trip over. It's peppery and cheesy. The coffee is excellent, and the tiramisu is a must. This is a bakery that happens to do a mean lasagna. It's a bit of a trek, but worth it. Go early. They sell out. That's your warning. I grabbed a pan and a slice of tiramisu. That was the right call.

Feels like Italy
Chef Mario’s amazing plates
Authentic Boynton Beach spot
Effort and care per dish
Phenomenal, welcoming experience

GB Belcastro. This is the closest you'll get to Italy without a passport. It's in Boynton Beach, which is odd, but don't let that stop you. Chef Mario is putting out amazing plates. You can taste the effort and care in every single bite. The lasagna here is a proper production. It's layered, delicate, and deeply satisfying.

The welcome is phenomenal. It feels like a friend's house. You'll want to hug your server. The food is rustic and honest. No pretension. The lasagna has a bechamel that's velvety. It's a masterclass in restraint. This is authentic Italian cooking, the way it's supposed to be done. A phenomenal experience from start to finish. I'd drive far for this. And I did.

Crowd favorite among locals
Happy hour cocktail deals
Fun, packed atmosphere
Perfectly cooked octopus
Great for group dinners

MIA Kitchen & Bar. This is the local crowd favorite. The vibe is fun, packed, and a little chaotic. The happy hour cocktails are a steal. I ordered the octopus, and it was perfectly cooked. Tender, charred, exactly right. The lasagna is good, but the scene is the real draw. It's a see-and-be-seen kind of place.

Perfect for group dinners. They do a solid job with the kitchen even when it's slammed. The lasagna is a hearty, gooey mess. It's not delicate. It's a crowd-pleaser. If you want to people-watch while you eat, this is your spot. Just be ready for the noise. It's a lively joint. The octopus is a must-order. The lasagna is fine. But the atmosphere is the real spice. Come for the buzz. Eat the octopus.

Rigatoni Bolognese is the star
Full bar, great wine picks
Friendly staff, romantic vibe
Calzone lunch worth repeat
Portions beat dessert attempts

DeLuca's Italian Kitchen & Bar. Here's the deal: the rigatoni Bolognese is the star of the show. Not the lasagna. The ragù is meaty, rich, and coats the tube pasta perfectly. Get that. The full bar has solid wine picks, and the staff is friendly. It's a romantic spot, dark and intimate.

The lasagna is fine, but it's overshadowed by the rigatoni. The calzone at lunch is worth a repeat. Portions are enormous. You won't finish your dessert. That's a given. The lasagna sits there, a perfectly acceptable option. But why order the backup when the starter is the MVP? This is a great date spot. The vibe is calm. The food is consistent. Just skip the namesake dish and order the Bolognese. You'll thank me. And maybe the tiramisu if you have room. Don't hold your breath.
